Nods of approval here in the Football Transfer Tavern tell us pretty much all we need to know after the latest claim from the Daily Mirror was aired by our landlord.
The publication claim that Manchester United are considering making a second attempt to land Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.
The club of course failed in their attempt to tempt him to Old Trafford in the summer and now think that a £35 million bid could well do the trick.
Khedira has been vocal about his annoyance over the loss of Mesut Ozil, and has also claimed he has become a scapegoat for the fans and media, due to his connection with former manager Jose Mourinho.
A move away from the Spanish capital, especially considering the wealth of talent in the middle of the park is not off the cards by a long shot.
United and David Moyes meanwhile are fully aware that they need a box to box midfielder, and the German international fits that description almost down to a tee.
Chelsea are also thought to be keen on the player, and the links with Jose Mourinho could well give the Blues the upper hand when it comes to landing the player.
As our landlord notes, Moyes has to make at least one big signing this winter to get the fans back on side, and it seems that £35 million Khedira could well be it after the club sent Phil Neville to watch him recently.
Do United stand a realistic chance of landing Khedira this winter and is he the ‘big’ signing you would be pleased with? Let us know your thoughts below.
