There are more than a few excited faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the The Sun that Sir Alex Ferguson is considering spending a massive £120 million this summer.
Manchester United may well have won the title and beaten cross-town rivals Manchester City to it quite comprehensively at that, but the club have not performed as well as Fergie expected them to in Europe and despite the Nani red card changing the game against Real Madrid, the manager felt that his Red Devils side could have done better. Add to this the FA and Capital One Cup exits and the Old Trafford legend wants an improvement next season.
Top of their transfer wishlist is of course Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski who has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and his four goals against Real Madrid would have made the long serving Ferguson sit up and take notice. The club are also considering shipping Nani and Anderson out to make room for new arrivals and are set to go toe to toe with Paris Saint-Germain in order to try and lure Cristiano Ronaldo away from Real Madrid. A £50 million rated move for Radamel Falcao is also not out of the question and Fergie is keen to make sure that he lands the best players around in order to kick on and get that 21st Premier League title.
The figures bandied about make Arsene Wenger’s transfer kitty look like child’s play and United fans here in the tavern are certainly looking more and more excited.
