Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are having a busy day after talkSPORT claim that midfield target Sami Khedira was considering signing a new contract with Real Madrid.
As our punters know, the German international is currently facing a long spell on the sidelines after getting injured, which effectively ruled out the chances of a winter move.
Now it seems that there will not even be the option to go back in the summer for suitors Chelsea and Manchester United, as the midfielder is now considering extending his deal with Spanish side Real Madrid.
The future of Khedira had been placed in doubt after the arrivals of Asier Illarramendi and also Casemiro, but now it seems that manager Carlo Ancelotti has realised that the midfielder does in fact have plenty to offer the club.
Khedira is under contract until 2015, but after the interest from both David Moyes and Jose Mourinho increased, Los Blancos are keen to tie the player down to an extended deal.
After confessing how much he missed German compatriot Mesut Ozil and impressing both Chelsea and United, punters in the tavern really did start to think that Khedria could well be on his way to England.
It is yet another transfer blow for Moyes, who was keen on landing the player in the summer but will now have to move onto other targets.
Will the midfielder remain a Real Madrid player? Let us know your thoughts below.
