There are some interested looks in the Football Transfer Tavern today as the Daily Star report that Manchester United are one several sides battling to sign 16-year-old Bulgarian starlet Stefan Velkov.
The Slavia Sofia youngster has been making headlines in his native country and it’s not just United who are interested with Italian duo Inter Milan and Juventus are thought to be keeping tabs on the defender.
His current club are desperate to hang onto him until the summer, but the Bulgarian club could be tempted with any large offers from Europe when the January transfer window opens.
Velkov, who turns 17 tomorrow, is already a regular in the Bulgarian Under-21 side and has made 19 appearances for his club side this term.
With under pressure United boss David Moyes planning to reinforce his squad in the near future, he could move for the starlet.
Moyes is on the lookout for long-term replacement for Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic who are both approaching the twilight’s of their careers at Old Trafford and Velkov could add further competition for places at the club.
