Manchester United set to make £70m bid for 34-goal talisman, Real Madrid also interested

Pierre Emerick-AubameyangThe Manchester United fans who can regularly be found enjoying a pint or three in the Transfer Tavern have not a great deal to shout about this season, other than a run to the final of the FA Cup.

The jury remains out over whether boss Louis van Gaal will earn himself a chance at redemption next season, or whether Jose Mourinho will be appointed to try and deliver the Premier League title to the club once again.

Our landlord has spotted some potentially exciting news for the Red Devils supporters in today’s Daily Mail, who are claiming that a £70 million bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is being prepared by the club’s hierarchy.

The 26-year-old has netted an impressive 34 goals in 41 appearances during the current campaign and he has also attracted interest from European giants Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

One United supporter is in the Tavern’s smoking area and he is in disbelief at the news, stating that the signing of such a player would be a major coup for the club, especially if they secure him without the lure of Champions League football.

Manchester United fans, would you welcome Aubameyang to the club? Does the club need to sign a striker in the summer? Who else should the club pursue?
