A Sunday without any Premier League action is a rather dull affair in the Football Transfer Tavern.
However this afternoon David Wright from the Daily Star has caused quite a stir in the bar with the latest news about Manchester United.
He suggests that United are set to compete with a host of Serie A clubs in an attempt to land FC Porto’s midfielder Fernando in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old’s contract runs out with the Portuguese club next summer and has reportedly brought interest from Serie A sides Juventus and Inter Milan.
However speculation from Wright now indicates that Moyes will also try to fetch the Brazilian to Old Trafford.
The Portuguese outfit are understood to be willing to tout Fernando around during the January transfer window, especially if they fail to make the Champions League knockout stages, rather then letting him leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
It is well known that Moyes will be looking to add to his midfielder after failing to sign the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Ander Herrera and Sami Khedira, and it is understood the Scot will be eager to complete the transfer in January.
The Brazilian wouldn’t need a work permit as he is close to securing Portuguese citizenship and this ould make the deal more likely.
Does this the Porto man look like a potential United player? Let us know your thoughts below.
