We haven’t seen him for a while but John Richardson of the Sunday Express, is back in the Football Transfer Tavern with some transfer news involving Everton and Manchester United.
David Moyes tried to sign Leighton Baines from his former employers earlier in the window but the Toffees immediately rejected a £12 million bid but Richardson believes that the Red Devils could be set to increase that offer.
After ordering a packet of crisps, John continues and lets a group of punters, which are slowly forming around him, know that Roberto Martinez has begun searching for a Baines replacement and that Moyes knows that Everton will sell Baines for the right fee.
Manchester United have had a somewhat frustrating transfer window so far but signing Baines would allow Moyes to make his mark on the United squad he inherited from Sir Alex Ferguson.
Just as the punters begin to disperse around Richardson, he beckons them back over as he has an extra bit of Manchester United news.
Despite Cesc Fabregas publically stating he isn’t leaving Barcelona, Moyes still believes he can get his man for £40 million towards the end of the transfer window.
As a punter has just quipped (and I must admit I did laugh) Moyes’ pursuit of the former Arsenal man Fabregas is starting to take on the role of an obsessed ex-boyfriend who can’t accept it is over!
