Manchester United's big pre-season has begun in earnest, with the club putting together plans to ensure they sign players who can bring success back to Old Trafford.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces quite the task though in bringing in those type of players, and while bringing players in will be of importance, so will be getting rid of players within the group who are seemingly part of the problem at Old Trafford.

One of those players, and someone who never seems to be out of the headlines is Paul Pogba, who is reportedly looking to force a move away from Old Trafford by being willing to take a pay-cut and join Real Madrid over in La Liga.

And while Pogba might be one of the most talented players in world football on his day, we here in the Tavern feel United would be better served by allowing Pogba to make his move away from the club.

Allowing Pogba to move on would of course leave a hole in the middle of the park for United to fill, but they could do so knowing they have rid themselves of a player who divides opinion amongst fans and doesn't perform to the standard United require on a regular basis.

The whole charade around Pogba is something which has lingered on for far too long now, and while commercially he might be a success, the time has to come when the club needs to begin focussing on on-field matters once more rather than how they can increase revenues.

United's summer is arguably their biggest in years, and moving Pogba on could well be the first piece of what is a tricky jigsaw for the club to complete.
