Manchester United manger Jose Mourinho has made his feelings well known this weekend about some of his players despite an FA Cup quarter final win over Brighton, and this summer could see the Portuguese manager make some huge changes to his squad.
Some of our United punters here in the Tavern couldn’t quite believe what they were hearing this weekend following the game, and they have been having some interesting debates today about who could be on their way out and who the club might look to bring in.
One area which is up for discussion is in the full back positions, where Mourinho openly criticised both sides this weekend.
Our landlord thinks it’s a given that Jose will make a move for some new defenders in the summer, and one player he thinks they should make a move for is Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, who could well be on his way out of the Emirates anyway.
The Spaniard is lightning quick and has been one of the most consistent attacking full backs on the continent over the last few years, leading to plenty of interest from some of the big hitters in the game.
None are much bigger than United though, and Bellerin would be an excellent long term replacement for Antonio Valencia. Pacey, good going forward, but reliable defensively, Bellerin would slot in very well at Old Trafford given the chance.
United fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
