Manchester United should take a risk and sign this defender from their Premier League rivals

Manchester United fell to a miserable defeat this weekend as Newcastle United outbattled them at St James’ Park to come away with a 1-0 win and leave United firmly out of the title race all together now.

The Red Devils have been putting in some inconsistent performances of late and Jose Mourinho will no doubt be looking to the summer transfer window to see if he can make any additions to what is already an extremely talented squad at Old Trafford.

One position which might come under scrutiny by Mourinho in the summer is in central defence, and our landlord thinks a swoop on rivals Chelsea for Brazilian defender David Luiz might be a surprising yet brilliant piece of business by the Portuguese manager.

The big Brazilian might have fallen out of favour this season under Antonio Conte, but there is little doubting his pedigree and ability, with Premier League titles, World Cup Finals, and Champions League winners medals all on his CV.

Luiz would be a solid addition for the Red Devils, and despite a reputation for being somewhat flamboyant, he is still top draw in terms of defenders in the Premier League.

With Eric Bailly’s all action style, Luiz could well be the perfect partner for the big United defender, with Luiz also being well known as an excellent presence in and around the dressing room wherever he has been.

United and Chelsea fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
