David Moyes can boast one more late signing according to the Daily Mail, as they note that Manchester United have managed to sign a full back this summer.
After the worst transfer window in recent history for the Red Devils, all they have managed to do is bring in Everton’s Marouane Fellaini – and now 17-year-old full back Saidy Janko from FC Zurich.
The player cost around £700,000 and is thought to be one for the future – and is promptly being sent back out on loan by the club.
Manchester United fans had been hoping to see a senior full back arrive this summer with attempts to land both Leighton Baines and also Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao as cover for Patrice Evra falling upon deaf ears.
Despite Evra being more than able, Moyes is concerned that there is not enough cover (does he remember Alexander Buttner!?) and given the fact that Evra is now on the wrong side of thirty, the possibilities of injuries and not being able to play 90 minutes of each and every game is an issue.
As one of our punters quips, Evra would probably disagree with this however.
With the move for Leighton Baines being totally blocked, Moyes could well try and return to Real Madrid in January and hope to push through a move for Coentrao then – after the player has spent the first half of season on the bench.
