Manchester United have already begun their summer spending with the signings of Fred and defender Diogo Dalot, and the club’s fans here in the Tavern are already looking forward to seeing how next year pans out.
The Red Devils fans remain hopeful that under Jose Mourinho the club can wrestle control back off of City and Pep Guardiola, and the new additions are a welcome boost to them achieving that goal.
However, despite the amount of new signings who could be made, one man who is ripping it up in Russia this summer is current United midfielder Jesse Lingard.
The United man has been superb for England in their opening two games, and scored a stunning goal against Panama today to put a rubber stamp on his impressive start to the tournament.
However, he is not always the top dog under Mourinho, and despite netting double figures last year, is not always guaranteed a start.
Our landlord here in the Tavern thinks that needs to change though, and we agree.
Lingard has all the tools in the book to be a top class and even world class midfield player. He often overshadowed the likes of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez last season, and we truly believe that given a regular run in the team, Lingard can be United’s man midfield general.
A late bloomer, but worth the wait, Lingard simply has to be one of the players United build their team around next season.
United fans, do you agree? Let us know in the comments!
