Manchester United's season has been a rollercoaster of emotions so far it would be fair to say.

With problems reported across the whole club, from board level, to manager, to players, things have not been ideal at Old Trafford so far, and manager Jose Mourinho remains under a lot of pressure to deliver in the coming months.

After a quiet summer, there are some big decisions to be made at the club, and with the January window fast approaching, it could well prove to be one of the most important winter windows the club has had in a long time.

With that in mind, we at the Tavern think it's important the United board act and back Mourinho - or whichever manager is at the helm - and go out and sign some quality players.

One such player who the club simply have to sign is Ajax and Netherlands central midfielder Frenkie De Jong.

Already valued at a whopping £36m by Transfermarkt at the tender age of just 21, De Jong already looks to be one of the top up and coming talents on the continent, if not in the world.

Of course, there's bound to be a huge scramble for his signature if indeed Ajax decide to sell their star talent, and it should be United who ensure they are the head of that queue.

De Jong is simply put, an immensely talented young footballer with a massive future. If United are to continue to challenge and be one of the world's top powers in football, it's vital they sign young players like De Jong.

United fans, what do you think? Should you sign De Jong? Let us know in the comments!
