Manchester United

Manchester United simply must snap up this Southampton star in January

Manchester United are flying this season, and if it wasn’t for rivals Man City, would sit comfortably atop the Premier League table.

The Red Devils and their effervescent manager Jose Mourinho continue to impress, and following a summer of crucial additions, there’s every chance the title could be on its way back to Old Trafford with a bit of luck along the way.

Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern has been thoroughly enjoying watching United, but feels there is always room for one more addition in the squad, especially in midfield, where an ageing Michael Carrick and an injured Paul Pogba have had an effect on the team.

One man he thinks can be an excellent signing for United is current Southampton and England man James Ward-Prowse, who once again is impressing for the Saints this term.

The young midfielder seems to have been around for quite some time now, but is still only in his early 20’s, and has plenty of time to develop even further and become one of the standout midfield players in the Premier League.

Under a manager like Jose Mourinho, Ward-Prowse could flourish, and his dead ball expertise are arguably something United lack within the squad at the moment.

He’s a player who has really come into his own in the past two seasons especially, and the chance to play for a top four side is something which can only benefit the player and United in the long term if Mourinho decides to pursue a move.

Man United fans, what do you think? Would Ward-Prowse be a good fit? Let us know in the comments!
