Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are breathing a sigh of relief as it is claimed by the Daily Mirror that their left back, Patrice Evra, will be going nowhere.
The defender had been linked with a move away from the club after he expressed doubts over David Moyes, not to mention the fact that Leighton Baines was being openly courted for his place in the side.
Now it seems that the French International is willing to chalk it all up to a misunderstanding, a la Luis Saurez, claiming that he will be staying at the club and that he does in fact have faith in manager Moyes. It is of course a rare bit of good news for the Red Devils, who have seen their side falter this season so far.
The long serving player noted:
“I had a French interview and I said ‘It’s personal’ meaning ‘I don’t want to talk about it’,”
“And then they say ‘I will leave’. Maybe some people [outside] want me to leave the club but that’s not the case.
“I will answer if somebody wants to talk about my contract because I think it ends after this year.
“But then they have to talk with Manchester United and my agent. Me? I love this club so much.
“The only thing I can say is it [the French interview] was a big misunderstanding.”
Despite this, David Moyes is still thought to be prepared to allow Evra to leave and is set on once again making a bid for Baines.
