The Football Transfer Tavern punters were not surprised to see Wayne Rooney leave the Manchester United pre-season tour because of supposed injury but the Daily Star are now reporting that the England international is still keen on leaving the champions this summer.
Rooney handed in a transfer request at the end of last season after being rested or dropped in numerous games under Sir Alex Ferguson but new boss David Moyes ruled out the possibility of the striker leaving.
The £30 million rated forward is wanted by Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona and he was forced to leave the United pre-season tour of Asia yesterday with a serious hamstring injury that could rule him out of the opening Premier League weekend.
Plenty of talk surrounding the striker has been that the injury is a camouflage for a transfer this summer and it appears the England man is still adamant that he wants to leave the Premier League champions.
Will Wayne Rooney manage to engineer a route out of Old Trafford this summer, and to whom? Let us know your thoughts below.
