The Daily Star reveals that the Dutch side are keen to bring in Adnan Januzaj on loan but van der Sar, who is a director at the club, fears they do not have the funds to make the move happen.
Although the Amsterdam giants could certainly offer the 19-year-old first team football, it is unlikely they could match his wages meaning his short-term future may be in Spain or Italy.
van der Sar said: “Well, if you have the number of his agent: give it me with confidence. But I fear that we can’t pay his salary.”
Despite bursting onto the scene last season under David Moyes, Januzaj has struggled to feature in the Red Devils first team this season under Louis van Gaal and the arrival of big money stars hasn’t helped his situation.
This has left Manchester United fans fearing that he may be pushed aside – becoming unsettled – and leaving the youngster vulnerable to being snapped up by a club in Europe.
