A regular topic of debate in the Transfer Tavern this season between Arsenal and Manchester United fans is whether the Red Devils new-star Anthony Martial can emulate the talents of Gunners legend Thierry Henry.
19-year-old Martial has started brightly in the Premier League following a £36m move from Monaco and comparisons to former France international Henry have been made regularly, particularly by over-excited United fans at the bar.
Whilst those drunk punters will argue all day and night that Martial can emulate one of the Premier League’s greatest, the player himself told French TV channel BFM that they do not share characteristics and that he has some way to go before he can be compared with Henry.
“Thierry Henry? I know this is a very great player who is a legend in England. I have everything left to prove.”
“By continuing to work, I will try to reach his level. But at the moment, I’m still far from it.”
Arsenal fans are the bar aren’t surprised by these comments, believing it’s pretty obvious, but there’s still one loud punter declaring Martial is the best thing since sliced bread.
