Manchester United star secures long-term Old Trafford future

Antonio ValenciaFootball fans in the Football Transfer Tavern stayed up late last night and celebrated an Ecuador win over Honduras.

But it is Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia who is celebrating today, according to the Daily Star, after he ended all reports linking him with a move away by signing a new deal.

It had been thought that the 28-year old could be set to leave Old Trafford this summer following Louis van Gaal’s arrival at the club.

A number of clubs were interested in the former Wigan Athletic winger but instead he has secure and new three year deal at Old Trafford.

Valencia only had a season left on his contract but will now remain at the club till he is 32.

Valencia said: “My time at Manchester United has been like a dream come true.

“To be the first Ecuadorian player to win the English Premier League was a very proud moment for me and for my country.

“I am so happy to have signed a new deal and am looking forward to working with Louis van Gaal. There is great team spirit within the club and we are all determined to get back to winning ways.”
