The Football Transfer Tavern was packed for this afternoon’s second game as Manchester United took on Cardiff City.
As the build-up before kick-off increased, a story was brought to light by the Landlord about a potential summer departure from the Red Devils for one of their longest-serving players.
The Daily Star reported that Patrice Evra is the subject of interest from both Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain with the duo set to fight it out for the United left-back.
The 32-year-old is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and, as yet, there have been no talks about extending his deal with the club. Newly-appointed United boss David Moyes has spent the last six months trying to sign Leighton Baines as his replacement, and this would suggest to all in the tavern that Evra’s successful spell at United could soon be at an end.
The defender could see this as the right time to quit United with both Ligue 1 clubs ready to double his current salary of £85,000-a-week.
Former United player Laurent Blanc, who now coaches PSG, is hopeful of landing the excellent full-back during the summer but will face fierce competition from Evra’s former club Monaco.
