He may have only just put pen to paper on a new deal with Manchester United, but the Daily Mail has shocked punters in the Football Transfer Tavern after claiming Patrice Evra may yet leave Old Trafford this summer.
Back in May, the French left back signed a one-year contract extension with the Red Devils.
However, after Juventus made an official enquiry surrounding a £2 million deal today, it seems that Evra could well be making the switch to Serie A, with Arturo Vidal potentially moving in the opposite direction.
As one of our punters notes, that is not a bad deal for United and Louis van Gaal, especially given they have just shelled out £30 million for Southampton’s Luke Shaw who will be their first choice left back next season.
This is not to mention the fact that the Red Devils are still in dire need of adding quality players in the middle of the park despite the capture of Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera.
United have been linked with Vidal for some time now and after the Chilean’s stock rose during the World Cup, we think that he will certainly be a welcome addition to the club next season.
United fans. Are you surprised to see Evra linked with a move away just after penning a new deal or is that just part of modern football? Let us know your thoughts below.
