The Daily Mail provide a rather interesting claim for both Chelsea and Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as they note that forward Wayne Rooney is prepared to judge the fans reaction to him before deciding on his future.
The England International has been heavily linked with a move away from the champions this summer and returning Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been leading the chase to bring the player to Stamford Bridge. Rooney and WAG Coleen have been clear over their desire to stay in England and have not really considered a move abroad and the Blues have been the main and really only contenders for Rooney’s signature this summer.
Should the player decide that an extended stay at Old Trafford is what he wants, Mourinho will have to return to the drawing board – if he was really interested in Rooney at all, not just playing very naughty mind games – and could well have to rely on the forwards he currently has.
It is clear that Fernando Torres and Demba Ba are not at the level the manager requires and given the way the club have lined up during pre season, Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku look to be the two players Mourinho has been looking for the goals from.
