The Daily Express have Manchester United fans on the edge of their seats here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
This is after the publication claimed that Juventus could well be willing to ditch any asking price for Arturo Vidal and simply take Juan Mata off the Red Devils’ hands instead.
Now as one of our punters notes, whilst that may seem a great idea on the surface, we think that given the money paid by David Moyes for Mata, accepting such a loss given Vidal’s price tag is around £27.5 million is not something Louis van Gaal might be overly keen to do.
Mata has failed to really work his way into United’s starting eleven on a regular basis under the Dutchman and we think that Wayne Rooney could well be the one he prefers in the number ten slot after the arrival of Radamel Falcao – meaning that Mata could well be on his way out.
Vidal is a long-term target for United and has undergone more ‘medicals’ than we can count, yet all the rumours have so far come to nothing.
Manchester United fans. Is this something that you would be willing to consider or do you think that van Gaal needs to give Mata a chance in the number ten role? Let us know your thoughts below.
