Manchester United star’s future looking bleak as player hits new low

The Manchester United supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their match against St Etienne tomorrow in the Europa League, though some news filtering into the pub has surprised them.

Top journalist for the Sun, Phil Cadden, has confirmed news via Twitter that Luke Shaw is not in the 20-man squad that is travelling to France for the second leg of the Round of 32 Europa League clash.

As Cadden says, this is certainly a new low for the former Southampton defender who is finding life at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho increasingly bleak, with the 21-year-old rarely featuring in the starting eleven for the Red Devils.

Our landlord here in the Tavern feels sorry for the full-back and thinks playing Shaw in a game like this would have been perfect, as the tie is effectively wrapped up already with Mourinho’s men securing a 3-0 win the first match at Old Trafford.

A handful of Red Devils fans by the bar here in the Tavern are lamenting Mourinho’s decision not to include Shaw in the squad for the clash, with them all agreeing that it is looking more and more likely that he’ll depart Old Trafford this summer for pastures new.
