The Daily Mirror seems to be all about Manchester United today, not that we are complaining here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Today’s scoop on the Red Devils seems to surround Danny Welbeck and the fact that he will be staying with the club.
As one of our punters notes, we did not know what would happen to the four forwards currently at Old Trafford under new manager Louis van Gaal.
Well it seems that one has done very well for himself indeed with Wayne Rooney being named as skipper and getting the only goal for the club during their opening day defeat to Swansea City.
Robin van Persie meanwhile is awaiting his return to full fitness after being given an extended break following World Cup duty for Van Gaal’s Netherlands side.
Javier Hernandez started yesterday but showed exactly why he has been linked with a move away from the club for the majority of the summer.
Now it seems that despite interest from a couple of clubs, Welbeck will be staying at Old Trafford and will be handed every opportunity to prove himself to his new manager and fans who are slightly less impressed with the versatile forward than they once were.
Manchester United fans. Is this a good idea? Would you have shipped Welbeck out as soon as you were made manager? Let us know your thoughts below.
