Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are disappointed to learn they will have to put up with Maraoune Fellaini for a while longer yet, according to the Daily Star.
The Belgian flop looked set to leave Old Trafford to join Rafael Benitez’s Napoli on loan but the deal has been delayed whilst the Italian side waiting to discover their Champions League fate.
Napoli face a tricky qualifier against Athletic Bilbao and do not want to commit to taking the midfielder on loan without the bonuses that Champions League football will bring.
Fellaini only sealed his movefrom Everton to Old Trafford 12 months ago for a fee of £26 million but has come under fire for a series of poor displays.
Louis van Gaal has not been convinced since his arrival and is willing to sanction a loan move for the former Toffees man as he looks to create space for a new midfielder in his squad.
But Napoli have now stalled on the deal with some reports suggesting they have turned their attentions to Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva as an alternative and someone Benitez knows rather well.
