Manchester United stepping up interest in Portuguese wonderkid

The 18-year-old is rated highly by the Manchester United hierarchy and they are set to pay up to £40 million for the Portugal international, much to the delight of the Red Devils contingent here in the Transfer Tavern.

The bunch of supporters are happy to see Louis van Gaal stay at the club for the final year of his contract, but only if the Dutchman spends big on players to bring silverware back to Old Trafford.

Sanches has been in fine form for Benfica during the current campaign and United have sent scouts to watch the youngster on many occasions throughout the season.

One United fan is chatting to the landlord and he claims that he doesn’t know a great deal about Sanches, but is happy to give the player a chance to shine at Old Trafford before making a judgement.
