There were conflicting reports in the Football Transfer Tavern this morning as two papers compete for attention for the punters in the bar.
The Express report that Manchester United manager David Moyes has not given up hope that he will have the opportunity to work with Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo has been in stunning form for club and country this term and is currently favourite for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, helped massively by his fantastic hat-trick for Portugal to ensure a place at the World Cup for his country.
There had been some talk in the tavern that CR7 could make a sensational return to Manchester, but he instead signed a new five-year contract to stay in Madrid. That isn’t stopping the former Everton manager expressing his desire to manage the superstar in the future.
Moyes said: “Everyone at Manchester United would tell you he is the best in the business anyway.
“I have not been fortunate enough to work with him but there is still hope some day it might be possible.”
However the latest reports from ITV Sport indicates that Moyes’ wish may be difficult to fulfil with the player insisting that his future remains in Spain.
“I want to stay at Real Madrid for many years, finish my contract here, because after Madrid, there is no bigger club,” Ronaldo told Portuguese reporters.
When his current deal at the Bernabeu expires, he will be 33 and that could end any hopes of a Old Trafford return.
