Manchester United still hopeful of landing unsettled star

Edinson CavaniThere’s a group of Manchester United ordering their pint early from the Football Transfer Tavern this morning ahead of their side’s lunchtime kick-off against Aston Villa.

With Bayern Munich on Tuesday, under-pressure manager David Moyes will be hoping for a relieving victory to take into the Champions League first leg.

It’s been a season to forget for United and Moyes since Sir Alex Ferguson retired at the end of last season and all too often we have been discussing what the Red Devils need to turn it round next season.

It seems that most want a change of manager but some solid summer additions will also hope to turn United back into a team capable of challenging in the Premier League and Europe.

Today’s Metro is claiming that one of the targets for United is Paris Saint-Germain hitman Edinson Cavani, who is understood to be seeking a move away from the French capital.

The Uruguayan only joined up with Laurent Blanc’s side last summer but is growing frustrated with being playing out of his regular centre-forward berth.

That could see Moyes looking to bring him to Old Trafford, leaving Cavani without the prospect of Champions League football for at least one season.

If the striker is made available, long-term admirer – Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho – could make his move although it is thought that Atletico Madrid hotshot Diego Costa remains his prime target.
