Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking slightly excited at the claim from David Moyes in the Metro, who notes that the deal for Cesc Fabregas may not be dead in the water after all.
The club have been involved in the chase for the midfielder all summer long and given that Cesc himself is no stranger to long running transfer sagas, it comes as no shock to see this one roll and roll. Now it seems that despite Barcelona noting that the player will be staying at the club, and Fabregas himself claiming he is happy even though he is behind Xavi and Andres Iniesta in the pecking order, he is willing to stay and fight for this place.
After seeing bids rejected and Barcelona remain firm in their stance, we did think that the deal was a no go, yet manager David Moyes seems to still hold faith that the move could happen, claiming that the deal was ‘ongoing’ despite seeing his side already have two bids rejected for the Spanish International. Fabregas of course knows the Premier League well and has even been linked with a move back to Arsenal, yet as one of our punters quips, his best chance of landing trophies would have to be with United.
