The Manchester United fans waiting for the big game against Chelsea later in the Football Transfer Tavern are hopeful over a potential summer transfer deal after reading in talkSPORT that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti’s agent has poured cold water on talk linking his client with a move to Real Madrid.
The young Italian midfielder has been sensational during his first full season in Ligue 1 following a summer transfer from Pescara and his stock has continued to rise, having impressed onlookers in the Champions League as well as internationally too with the senior Italian squad.
Valued at around £20 million, both Manchester United and Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the player but his agent Donato Di Campli says no contact has been made with Los Blancos.
He said: “First of all I would like to deny reports that I am in Spain at the moment.
“There is nothing with Real Madrid, also because whoever wants Marco will have to firstly go and negotiate with PSG. Right now there are too many rumours doing the rounds about him.
“The only thing that matters today is that Marco remains calm and ends his season in France in the best possible manner.”
This of course will hand a boost to Sir Alex Ferguson’s men who are reportedly craving a quality midfielder to compliment Michael Carrick who has enjoyed his finest season at Old Trafford this term. Tom Cleverley hasn’t made massive strides this term and there are questions over the future of Anderson so a move for Verratti could represent something the Red Devils are willing to pursue.
