Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern would be shocked if the Spanish giants changed their mind about their forward after the Daily Mail revealed that Javier Hernandez is pushing for a return to Real Madrid now that Rafa Benitez is in charge.
The Mexican striker had a slow start to life at the Bernabeu but towards the end of the season he scored pivotal goals in both the Champions League and La Liga.
The 27-year-old is currently on holiday but he is set to return to Old Trafford after his season long loan ended under Carlo Ancelotti.
His future is up in the air with a future under Louis van Gaal looking very unlikely, so he will be hoping that Madrid’s new boss is interested in him.
The hardworking striker has hinted towards the move after he complimented Benitez on his arrival to Madrid.
‘Ancelotti was my coach but now Benitez is there,’ Hernandez told Reuters. ‘He doesn’t have to speak to me because I was on loan from Man United.
‘But I am very calm because, thankfully, the last two months at Madrid were very good and showed a lot of things. That gave me a lot of confidence for my future.
‘I think that Rafa knows me. He is a really good coach and I think he will do a great job at Madrid.’
