Charles Perrin from The Express has taken a seat in the Football Transfer Tavern as he tries to explain to punters about a fresh high-profile transfer target for Manchester United.
Perrin claims that David Moyes has outlined a stunning move for Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik as he looks to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.
He confirms that reports have emerged from Italy which suggest that should United move for the 26-year-old they could stand a real chance of landing the dynamic midfield ace.
Moyes had also been linked with Juventus stars Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal, but neither player is apparently too interested about moving to Old Trafford at this stage of their careers.
While the fee Juve require for the pair could also prevent United not following up their interest and that could see the Red Devils looking at other possible targets, including Slovakian international Hamsik.
Napoli Chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis may consider a deal worth £25 million for the former Brescia man and his driving attacking midfield style could provide what Moyes wants at Old Trafford, with his ability to add creativity and goals to his current lacklustre side.
One of our Serie A experts sat in the corner of the tavern pipes up that Hamsik only recently signed a contract extension last year which keeps him at the Stadio San Paolo until 2018.
However, our rather eager Manchester United supporting punters reckon that a bid of £25 million could force De Laurentiis to at least have a think.
