Manchester United switch summer transfer targets

Marouane Fellaini We are holding a discussion with Manchester United supporters here in the Football Transfer tavern after The Mirror report that David Moyes has ended his pursuit of Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas and instead has switched his attentions to securing his former Everton talisman Marouane Fellaini.

The paper suggests that Moyes will return to his old club to land the Belgian international midfielder who has a £23.5 million buy out clause if he moves to a Champions League side this summer.

This news has caused equal amounts of disappointment among United supporters who were still hopeful they could see Fabregas arriving during the current transfer window.

Fabregas is due to reject advances from Old Trafford to publicly pledge his allegiances to Barcelona at a press conference on Thursday and end all hopes Moyes had of signing the 26-year-old former Arsenal captain.

United have seen two bids turned down by the Camp Nou club and they always insisted that the Spanish international was not for sale this summer.

Moyes has returned to the drawing board at Old Trafford and is now lining up a move for the player he knows very well at Goodison Park as he seeks to add much-needed strength to his United midfield ahead of the new season.

New Everton boss Roberto Martinez will be determined to keep the 25-year-old at the club but the former Standard Liege man holds strong ambitions to feature in the Champions League – the reason why Moyes agreed to submit the release clause in his contract originally.

Manchester United fans. Is Fellaini good enough for the Red Devils? He’s not Fabregas… Let us know your thoughts below.
