Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are weighing up their options as they compare all the possible replacements for David De Gea after Metro linked them with signing Ajax keeper Jasper Cillessen.
The Dutch keeper knows Louis van Gaal very well from his time as international coach and he is supposedly their number one target this summer.
With De Gea on the verge of a move to Real Madrid, van Gaal is looking to swiftly find a replacement which is what makes Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris a tough option, because it will be difficult to negotiate with Daniel Levy.
But Cillessen, 26, was Van Gaal’s number one during the World Cup in Brazil and the United boss put their relationship to the test after he subbed off the Ajax keeper prior to a penalty shoot-out in the quarter-final.
It was a decision that paid off and Cillessen was as surprised as everyone watching but he showed his faith in his manager and didn’t doubt him at all throughout the tournament.
