Manchester United target bound for France?

dimaria.jpgHere in the Football Transfer Tavern we do not think newly promoted Ligue 1 side Monaco look like stopping with their high profile transfers and given the latest story from Fantix that fact looks set to disappoint Manchester United fans.

The Red Devils had been linked with a move for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria who looks certain to leave the Bernabeu this summer.

Now the Argentine is being courted by mega wealthy Ligue 1 side Monaco who of course have already added Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho to their books and are also looking to lure Fabio Coentrao to their rapidly expanding side.

Not only this but the club have apparently managed to secure the services of the most wanted forward in football – Radamel Falcao on a five-year deal and seem to be well on their way to assembling a side brimming with world class talent. They feel that Argentina international Di Maria also belongs on this list and have tabled a £25.7 million bid.

Whilst United have shown an interest in the wide man, such a large amount of money in the way of a transfer fee is not something the club are interested in paying and will wait and see if the deal goes through before deciding their next move. Nani looks to be heading for the exit door at Old Trafford and despite Wilfried Zaha arriving this summer, David Moyes is on the look out for a winger.

Is Di Maria overpriced and will he big the next cog in Monaco’s machine? Rate this rumour below.
