There are a few whispers in the Football Transfer Tavern that Manchester United are interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Dante during the current transfer window.
This news comes from David Kent from Mail Online who suggests that the Brazilian has indicated that Red Devils want to sign him in a surprise move, despite his agent confirming that any deal taking his client to Old Trafford still needs a lot of work.
When asked if he had already signed for United, Dante said: “Not yet. I am still a Bayern player. I appreciate Manchester United’s interest. At the end of the month it will be resolved.”
“We’ll have to wait until the 31st, but there’s still a lot to come.”
The 30-year-old certainly wouldn’t offer a long-term option to United boss David Moyes, but the experienced centre back could prove a perfect fit as the club look to replace Rio Ferdinand at Old Trafford.
But while Dante declared he would consider a move to England, his agent Marcus Marin was keen to deny any interest, with his only thoughts on his client’s current contract that expires in 2016.
“There is no way that is going to happen,” he said. “He is not going to leave Bayern in the window.
“At the moment, Bayern are the only people we have spoken to anyway because we are talking over a new contract.
“We are still waiting for an answer from them and, although things happen very quickly in football, until that situation changes, we cannot speak to anyone else anyway”
These conflicting reports have left United fans reaching for their pints in the bar and with two years left on his deal at the Allianz Arena, only time will tell whether the Brazilian makes the move.
Manchester United fans in the bar are all in agreement that Dante would prove a top signing. Should Moyes pull out the stops to land him? Let us know your thoughts below.
