It’s set to be a fundamental summer for David Moyes and Manchester United as he tries desperately to halt their decline.
United take on Greek champions Olympiakos tonight in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.
However unless they can win the entire competition it looks increasingly likely that they will miss out on qualification for next season.
Now Red Devils punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been handed another blow as the Daily Star report that long-term target Marco Verratti has confirmed he wants to stay with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Italian international, 21, has made clear that he wants to remain with the Ligue 1, although he does admit it’s not his decision to make.
Verratti said: “There is nothing that can make me leave PSG.
“I’m very comfortable both on and off the pitch. Not everyone has the opportunity to start with a great club like this one and grow and improve as a player.
“Next season I will still be in Paris, it’s not up to me but if it was my intention is to stay here.”
Verratti has undergone a remarkable rise from Pescara in the Italian second division to the Champions League with PSG.
