The Football Transfer Tavern has been inundated with rumours today, but one of the most popular pieces of gossip comes from the Daily Star .
They reveal that Freiburg centre back Matthias Ginter has said he would be ‘honoured and excited’ to join the Old Trafford club in the summer.
Only last month it was claimed in the tavern that United boss David Moyes attended a Freiburg game to closely watch the 20-year-old, who is regarded as one of the most promising stars in the Bundesliga, but could be available for a cut price £10 million.
It is thought that both Bayern Munich and Arsenal are interested in Ginter although Moyes is determined to land him as he seeks a straight replacement for captain Nemanja Vidic, who will depart at the end of the season.
And after hearing the news, Ginter hinted he would interested in a potential move to the Premier League champions but admitted there was a long way to go between now and the end of the season.
“If it is true, I am of course honoured and excited,” Ginter is quoted as saying.
“On the other hand, there is still a long way to the summer.”
His current deal with the German strugglers lasts until 2017 but there is no doubt that any firm interest from Old Trafford and he’d be interested.
