Manchester United target going nowhere until 2015

ronaldo.jpgManchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have sat up and taken notice due to a story in talkSPORT about one of their former heroes Cristiano Ronaldo.

It has of course long been rumoured that the winger may return to the club either this summer or when his contract ends with Real Madrid in 2015 yet sporting director Emilio Butragueno could not have issued a stronger denial about this if he tried.

Despite the player getting a reception few can dream of on their return to a former club – especially one who he scored twice against, Ronaldo will not be returning. Butragueno noted that: “Cristiano is under contract and we are very happy with him. We are delighted he is at Madrid because he is a fantastic professional, and very ambitious in a positive way.”

Ronaldo now has 26 goals for the season in La Liga alone and has steered his club into the Champions League draw for the last eight today and no wonder the sporting director added that: “His contribution to the team and the club has been amazing since he arrived. We are very grateful he came to us and are lucky he plays for Real Madrid.”

Despite all of this, Ronaldo still has not penned a new deal at the club and according to the Spanish press will stay until the end of his deal and then make a move on the advice of his agent Jorge Mendes.
