Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are feeling slightly more positive about their season after watching their side’s comfortable 3-0 away victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.
A positive looking Champions League draw has also helped improve their mood and now they are looking forward to a productive January transfer window as David Moyes looks to make amends for the summer disaster.
However the latest reports from The Independent suggest that any hopes United had of signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke have all but disappeared after the Spanish star confirmed he will not be leaving the La Liga high-flyers.
David Moyes is seeking some fresh blood in midfield after the disappointing summer transfer window saw Marouane Fellaini arriving despite a host of players being linked with a move to Old Trafford.
The former Everton boss was spotted at Atletico’s recent Champions League tie against Porto as he kept a close eye on the 21-year-old, who was thought to be right at the top of his wishlist.
However it appears that it will more transfer frustration for Moyes if they try to lure him away from the Vicente Calderon as Spanish reports suggest that Koke has no desire to leave Madrid for Manchester.
Koke wants to remain at Atletico to improve his chances of winning a late World Cup call up while his side’s stunning start to the season has also persuaded him to stay put.
Diego Simeone’s men currently sit level on points with Barcelona at the La Liga summit and with a contract until 2018, it seems that Moyes will have to look elsewhere in the New Year.
Does this spell the end for Moyes’ pursuit for Koke? Let us know your thoughts below.
