Manchester United have been handed a blow in the Football Transfer Tavern today as it has been claimed by Metro that one of their top targets is not for sale.
The Red Devils have been chasing highly rated Juventus player Claudio Marchisio for some time now and were hopeful of landing the player after the 27-year-old himself noted that he would be ‘proud’ to join United should David Moyes and the board show interest in him.
Juventus however clearly have other plans and have come out fighting, basically stating there is no chance of the player making a move anywhere, anytime soon.
General director Guiseppe Marotta noted: “Marchisio? There is no meeting; there is no problem with him.
“Juventus have never thought about putting him on the market, he is an important player and we will try to keep him with us.”
The talented midfielder has been at Juventus his entire career and stuck by the club through thick and thin, relegations and promotions and championships and as one of our punters quips, it is not a shock to see that the club want to keep him on their books.
