Manchester United fans have received a boost here in the Football Transfer Tavern after the latest report from the Daily Express.
The publication claim that Jackson Martinez wants to join the Red Devils and will not only leave Porto but also snub Serie A side Roma to do it.
Martinez is one of David Moyes’ top targets this summer, and given the manager wants his transfer dealings to be completed by the start of the World Cup, we think he needs to move quickly.
The Porto player has been heavily linked with a move to Italy, but given his agent has refuted those claims and is now eyeing Manchester United, we think there could be a summer move on the cards.
Martinez will cost £40 million, and his agent William Lara claimed: “The price remains the same? It’s hard to say now. It depends on supply and demand and at this time Porto are focussed on other things.
“[Roma] is a big club, no doubt. Porto at this time has not yet initiated any contact about this matter. It has other matters to think about.”
“The situation is critical, not the best. Porto are focused on this season finale, this situation will be evaluated later.”
