The Football Transfer Tavern is packed today as punters enjoy another Super Sunday in the bar. Of course while the football on the screens preoccupies regulars, it is the latest transfer speculation that gets everyone talking.
The Express report that Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels could reject a move to Manchester United if David Moyes’ side fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
David Moyes’ team are struggling in the Premier League and now look likely to miss out on that vital fourth place following Liverpool’s impressive 3-0 victory over Southampton.
It’s set to be a fundamental summer for Moyes in the transfer market and one position that the Red Devils will have to strengthen is in central defence with captain Nemanja Vidic leaving and Rio Ferdinand set to retire.
The German international has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford but Real Madrid and Barcelona are also interested in the former Bayern Munich stopper.
Hummels could yet replace Carles Puyol at the Nou Camp, and the lure of Champions League football plus playing alongside some of the finest players in world football could see him turning down any advances from Old Trafford.
This makes us believe that United could face another tricky summer in the transfer market but what do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
