A story that will be of interest to both Manchester United and Arsenal fans has reached us inside the Football Transfer Tavern, courtesy of John Cross at the Daily Mirror.
Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has reportedly grown frustrated with life at the Camp, and has been linked with a move back to the Premier League, with David Moyes interested in making the Spaniard his first signing at Manchester United.
It is understood Fabregas is going to make a decision on his future next week, with it rumoured he is dreaming of a return to Arsenal – the club he quit for Barcelona two years ago.
Barcelona do not want to sell Fabregas, but the 26-year-old has grown frustrated at being overlooked for big European matches, and may look to exploit the clause in his contract that gives Arsenal the first option to buy back their former captain.
When Fabregas made the switch to Barcelona in the summer of 2011, a deal was put in place to give Arsenal the first refusal on the player, who they could buy back for £20 million having sold him for £35 million.
Moyes is still hopeful he can tempt him to Manchester United, using the success of former teammate Robin van Persie as an example, whilst Chelsea and Manchester City are watching developments closely.
Will Fabregas remain with Barcelona this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
