Manchester United fans are looking like all their Christmases have come early here in the Football Transfer Tavern after Metro claimed that the Red Devils are sizing up a move for Diego Godin.
The Atletico Madrid central defender has been without a doubt one of the best players in Europe over the last couple of seasons and has been a pivotal part of the success enjoyed by the La Liga side.
However, after seeing Diego Costa and Filipe Luis come to the Premier League, it seems that United are willing to make a move for Godin and see if they can lure him as well.
We think that a move may have to wait until the summer with the defending La Liga champions looking to retain their crown and go one better in the Champions League. Diego Simeone will be determined to keep his best players in order to achieve that.
As our regulars point out over a pint, United have also been linked with a move for Godin’s central defensive partner Joao Miranda, who has a buyout clause of £24 million, which is slightly less than Godin’s which stands at £28.5 million – and both could look to leave the champions should they be activated.
Manchester United fans. Would you prefer to land Godin or his Atleti team-mate Miranda? Is Hummels a better option than both? Let us know your thoughts below.
