Once again after another busy weekend of Premier League action, Manchester United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left looking downcast.
David Moyes’ side have fallen eight points behind league leaders Arsenal after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Southampton.
Red Devils supporters in the bar know that a major transfer spree in January is needed to change their fortunes.
One reported target appears to be Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella and today Sky Sports report that the Ligue 1 side have valued the 23-year-old at £15 million amid interest from Old Trafford.
Cabella has started the new season in fine form, scoring five times and contributing with four assists and that has seen Moyes turn his attention to landing the dynamic midfield man.
Montpellier are aware of the attention from the current Premier League champions and will have no choice but to sanction the possible transfer if United meet the asking price.
Coach Jean Fernandez told Reuters: “He’s an intelligent boy who has made a good start to the season.
“Now in the winter transfer window if Manchester United offers €18m, as I see it, he must go.
“Even if you ‘kill the team’, you can’t refuse.”
“Marseille’s interest? He learnt everything here and is particularly grateful. We don’t change our mind every morning. We said we won’t sell, so we didn’t sell him.”
We’re not sure if the creative midfielder will be the answer for Moyes but we’re certainly interested to see what happens.
