Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from their defeat at Bournemouth, so it’s vital Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting 11 stand up to be counted against Brighton on Sunday.
Their 3-0 win in the Europa League on Thursday night will give the squad some confidence, and the manager will look to add some fresh legs to that mentality at the weekend.
So, how will they line-up away against Brighton?
Expect to see Anthony Martial in the number nine position again, and with Thursday’s impressive goal fresh in the mind, Solskjaer may want him to resume his goalscoring form in the Premier League.
Victor Lindelof missed the Europa League game with a back injury and could return in time for the visit of the Seagulls, but don’t be surprised to see Marcos Rojo back at centre-half alongside the ever-present Harry Maguire.
Ashley Young is suspended, so 19-year-old Brandon Williams looks set to make his full league debut, and he’s earned it considering his 86.8% pass rate across the two Europa League games he played the full 90 in, resulting in an average WhoScored rating of 7.43/10.
Fred and Scott McTominay should once again play across the midfield – as long as the latter overcomes Thursday night’s knock – and neither have much competition at the moment with Nemanja Matic out of favour, having started just twice in the league this season, and Paul Pogba injured until December.
Out wide, Daniel James will continue to be one of the first names on the teamsheet, and after being left on the bench on Thursday night, he’ll be eager to get back out and prove why he should keep his place in the strongest 11.
That leaves Andreas Pereira, who was also rested, and Marcus Rashford, who should play on the left wing where Jose Mourinho feels he’s at his best, and WhoScored agree, giving him an 8.8/10 rating on the wing against Norwich City just two weeks after giving him a 6.06/10 as the number nine against Newcastle United.
