There is some interest at claims from talkSPORT in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening as the publication indicates that Manchester United are ready to join Arsenal in their pursuit of Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons.
The 25-year-old defensive midfield man has played his entire professional career with Les Gones after making his debut back in 2009 but he could now be ready to leave after growing frustrated with life at the Stade Gerland.
This combined with the financial issues that Lyon are encountering may see the anchorman heading to pastures new.
Napoli are also believed to still be in the race for Gonalons as Rafael Benitez seeks to beef up his current squad, but according to today’s reports, David Moyes has also demonstrated some interest.
It is well-known in the Football Transfer Tavern that United are searching for some midfield reinforcements when the transfer window re-opens and it appears that the French international has emerged on his radar.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has long been watching his compatriot and he could finally firm up his interest in the Lyon man.
We’re not sure if either club will follow up this interest but what do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
