There is breaking news arriving in the Football Transfer Tavern with serious implications to the group of Manchester United fans playing pool.
The Guardian reports that Everton’s Leighton Baines is close to signing a new contract at Goodison Park, ending any thoughts David Moyes had of bringing the England left back to Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old has been a long-term target for the Red Devils and the Premier League champions failed to sign the defender in the summer.
Now the Toffees have made a breakthrough in the talks and hope to have a new agreement within in days.
Moyes will now have to look at another targets as he seeks a replacement for current left back Patrice Evra, whose contract runs out at the end of the present season.
Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao and Southampton starlet Luke Shaw are both thought to be on the radar for the former Everton manager.
This positive news comes a massive boost to Roberto Martinez after his side made an excellent start to the season, with the club also hoping to tie down young starlet Ross Barkley on a longer term deal in the near future.
However for United supporters in the tavern, it just spells more frustration in the transfer market.
